Controllable Vehicles

Students working on their buggies

The introduction is a quick revision of electrical circuits. The students work in pairs and make a pressure switch. They then use this to control a pre-made buggy to start and stop. There are six more tasks to complete of increasing difficulty, the last three using a slide switch. The final task is to control the vehicle so that it moves backwards and forwards between two fixed objects automatically. This activity can be extended by going onto Electronic Control.
